When are we going to see SSD's as the standard option in MBP's? I plan on buying my MBP during the Sandy Bridge refresh so I'm in no rush...

872 1/2 days from now.

How can anyone know except applying logic, i'd say when the price per GB comes down and capacity goes up.

When they bother to implement trim support for SSDs. When will that happen? No one knows... as they cant even be bothered to release 10.6.3. for now.

This has bugged me. Why does Apple offer a SSD option if they don't support it at the OS level?

Is supporting Trim just a matter of software, or are there hardware changes that need to be made to do so?

Both. Hardware drivers need to be updated to support trim under the OS level, and trip support needs to be built into the OS like windows 7.

Imho

I don't see TRIM being implemented for a few more incremental updates yet. There has not even been any mention of it.
