I have a SSD in a usb3 enclosure that goes super fast. I decided to try it as a time machine backup, since I needed to back my comp up and didnt want to wait hours. A 60GB backup took less than 15 mins!!! That is awesome! HDD backups usually take an hour or more (sometimes several hours!) SSD is the way to go for everything!

Can I have that to use as my main drive since you seem to have extra lying around? :)

I find only the first backup takes a very long time. Subsequent backups only take a few minutes.

That said, I usually use an external SSD for scratch.
