    What 4GB RAM would fit a 17" Macbook Pro? (upgrade to 8GB). And would this apply for the 2012 Macbook Pros?

    Thanks

    The MBP comes with (2) 2GB sticks, so you would have to buy a 8GB kit altogether and not just a single 4GB stick. I recommend this one: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/1333DDR3S08S/

    Also we don't know what 2012 will hold for the MBPs...

    You can also go to www.crucial.com. They have a utility that will scan your system, tell you what you have and what options are there to max out your memory (with crucial branded memory). I have had very good experience with them..

    Thanks for the replies;

    I'm hoping SSD prices drop somewhat by next year

    But would upgrading the RAM/HDD void the Macbook Pro warranty?
