SSH Connection Refused

Hi,

I am having trouble SSHing into my iPod Touch with Cyberduck.

I just get "Connection Refused".

Can anyone help?

Try using the Terminal. Cyberduck is an s/ftp client, and although sftp runs over SSH, I've found Cyberduck to be a bit flaky. Thankfully, my university gives out Fetch to use.

If you are trying to SSH, Cyberduck won't cut it. If you are trying to SFTP, then it might.

"ssh username@ipodtouch'sip", then wait for the password prompt (no characters will appear) will do it for ssh in the Terminal. Try it and see what happens.

I tried that but all that appears is a hash symbol.

I think that means you're in; try typing "ls" and see what happens. If it returns a listing of files, you've got the right username, password, etc. Check your Cyberduck configuration again, as it might be off (or the program's just b0rked).

Well, you're certainly in then; the iPod just doesn't have that command installed. I'm not really sure what you should do next, but you have SSH access to your iPod Touch. There's gotta be somebody around who knows more than I do at jailbreaking these things...

I managed to get Cyberduck working, I had the protocol set to FTP instead of SFTP (SSH Secure File Transfer).

I could not get it to work either, but tried Transmit and it is great. Not one problem.

I was thinking about trying Transmit, but I quite like Cyberduck now I've got it working.
