I have a ton of BSD code currently running and powering an iPhone app. Soon, i'll need to open a secure socket connection to a server supporting SSL. My first guess is to port OpenSSL over to the iPhone SDK. Question is, has anyone done that already? Did you encounter any insurmountable problems?

I know SSL is supported by CFNetwork, but i'm not really interested in using that at all as i need to maintain portability. :(

    Thanks guys.

EDIT: I realize i posted this on the wrong forums. Can the admin please move this to the iPhone Programming forum? Thanks!

I thought the iPhone already had OpenSSL built in?

Which API? At the core framework level, seems like only CFNetwork API has intrinsic SSL support. BSD socket API doesn't seem to have that. Unless i'm badly mistaken... Anyone can help?

PS: Forum admin, can you help me move this thread to the iphone programming forum? Accidentally posted to this forum...
