I haven't read this entire thread, but no doubt my experience today is more or less what others have seen. This morning I did my first serious bout of working after installing Leopard. This involved multiple downloads from Safari, and also changing files in my documents folder (which I have stacked) and a media folder (also stacked).
After about 10 minutes, it was total confusion and chaos. My downloads folder, which was just an empty blue folder, changed with everything I downloaded. To make matters worse, I started work on some media projects, which meant files in my stacked media folder started being created. The file types were of the same kind as the ones I was also downloading, so I quickly had these two folders switching between about three different file types. I had no idea whatsoever which folder was which. I was then using Stacks to open various downloaded files and media files, and I was totally muddled in a few minutes.
Then I started filing stuff in documents, as I do, and that folder icon began changing, again to match the other two folders due to the alphabetical file names I was using.
So in the end I had three stacked folders, each of which was alternating between about three different icons for three different file types.
In Tiger, it didn't matter because I just used hierarchical menus and I could see instantly which folder was which, because I had custom icons.
Now it's just a confusing mess!
