Yes, heard about this tragedy this morning.
Same thing happened in Ottawa, just a scant month ago.
Unusual wind sheer was blamed, but obviously more anchor lines to ground supports are needed for these tall structures. They provide quite a 'sail area' when the wind comes up. The PSI on a tall structure must be significant.
Condolences to all my brothers and sisters from IATSE#30 for their loss A very sad day indeed
What a sad and tragic event.
I was in the shadow of that stage just a couple of days before and had several friends who where there. Still kind of shocking. My prayers go out to all involved.
The video of the falling stage is extremely scary. I hope those hospitalized reach a full recovery.
Video is brutal. Poor people look like scurrying bugs when that winds comes up.
I still don't get how to embed these clips...
Pretty lucky that is all that died. Looked like it could of been a lot worse. Sad....
if Sugarland had been playing at the time, the toll could be hundreds
the stage backdrop looked like a sail
Saw some video (on TV news - no link) of some wonderful actions by folks there to help those trapped and injured.
My sympathies with the friends and families of those who died.
I can can't even imagine the horror and grief of the families - your kid goes to a concert and never comes home.
Fox News is reporting that one of the injured has died bringing the death toll to 6.
