it really comes down to money, and if you plan on selling it in order to fund your next upgrade. both the alum and SS have terrible resale value, you looking at 50% when the new one comes out, however 50% loss on the aluminum is alot better than 50% on the SS since SS has a higher msrp.

Very true. In December I traded in two S7s, an aluminum and SS with Apple for new S8s. They gave me the same for each....$155! Geez. And they were both in like-new condition.

wow you could've easily sold the SS for like 250 on here.
Well that's true. And I know there are other ways to sell it also. But not to sound ignorant, luckily I'm in a position to do my trades quick and easy as I'm financially able. I always trade with Apple my watches and phones. I've never had a problem with them and I don't get any hassle. That's worth a lot to me.

have you tried selling on here before? its pretty effortless and hassle free as well. i have done over 30 transactions on here buying and selling, no hiccups. just because you are financially able doesn't mean you should let apple rip you off 😂

No, I haven't. I just joined this forum in December and while I've visited MacRumors daily for articles, I never considered it. You haven't had the buyer come back and complain about something with your trade?

Yes, I agree that Apple really takes advantage with their watch trade prices. The phone trade prices are a little more fair.

Stainless Steel watches are beautiful. However, they function the same as their less expensive aluminum counterparts.

I have had my SS 5 in polished gold, since it was released. Wear it everyday, NO scratches what so ever. Does everything I need, I will hang onto it till it dies.

I find aluminum gouges easily, so I'm biased, but obviously I'd say stainless.

But give the Ultra a shot too. My wrists aren't the greatest, 160 to 165mm depending on who's measuring and when, but I was surprised; the Ultra didn't look like a behemoth after all and coming from Garmin -- reluctantly, due to the better health push notifications and Garmin's retreat from LTE support -- the battery life was the clincher. (But if you're smaller than 160mm the Ultra just isn't going to fit all that well).

The strap eyelet bands on the Ultra (Trail, Alpine) fit my wrist better than the elastomer ones (e.g. Sport) on the Series 7/8 because they fit the sides of my wrist more snugly, though the best case scenario for fit for me probably would have been a strap eyelet band (e.g. Milanese) on the Series 8.
