I understand that you'll not be able to buff out the ALU, like you can the SS, but by the same token, I don't think it shows those scuff less then the SS. Personally speaking I'd rather not try to buff out scratches, that's just me.
I also think the weight and ion glass are reasons why the sport is better for my needs, i.e., using it for running.
Understandable, I weighed the SG and the SS heavily for a while, I have seen some flecks/marks/scratches on the SG casing that others posted that would drive me nuts to see everyday. The contrast was just more stark having the silver underneath the SG finish when damaged.
The buffing of micro scratches is painless and cheap with a cape cod polishing cloth, restored my casing very easily with very little time/effort.
