How is Apple watch made out of stainless steel be any different from a normal watch made out of stainless steel? If one buys a Ferrari, one wouldn't expect its paint job to be scratch proof.

The Ferrari is painted, the watch is not. I've already saw on the net that the watch even at the early stages getting some scratch complaints.

Apple has touted that they tweaked the alloy, but to what degree, I have no idea. The fact remains SS does scuff up, and while a watch can be largely protected since its on your wrist, a phone is more vulnerable.

What I meant is if stainless steel on other things can get scratches, why would stainless steel on Apple watch behave any different? I mean to compare a paint job on an Ferrari with a typical car, but I didn't spell it out.

I doubt we'll see stainless steel anytime soon. I loved it on the iP4, and missed it on my iP5, but I think if we are getting reports that :apple: want to use a stronger aluminium on the new iP6S, then thats more likely to happen. Remember that steel is also heavier, so that doesn't play with :apple: marketing of making devices lighter and thinner.

Forget Stainless steel. I'd prefer a titanium iPhone :-D
Apple tried that on their laptops back in the day - it didn't quite work out as well as they hoped.

I see, as for the paint job, its of course the type of paint, but also who many coats of paint they apply and what they do in between each coat.

I agree and I believe that in six months we will see a good number of Apple Sport Watches with scratched screens!

That screen just such a target for walls, doors.....
