They DIDN'T discontinue the SS S1.Does anyone know why they discontinued the SS Series 1 Apple Watch?...
There never was a stainless steel Series 1, it has always only been available in aluminum since it is the cheaper Apple watch.
Note the the Series 1 is not the same as the original Apple watch, which was available in stainless steel. Series 1 is basically the original Apple Watch Sport with an upgraded dual core chip. Series 1 was released at the same time as the Series 2 in fall 2016 and the original Apple watch was discontinued.
Thank you. So, what you're saying is that the 7000 series came in the Stainless Steel??? And the series 2? But no series 1? I just bought a new one and they said it was the series 1. Smh!There never was a stainless steel Series 1, it has always only been available in aluminum since it is the cheaper Apple watch.

7000 series is just the type of aluminum. I believe all the aluminum Apple Watches use 7000 series aluminum. Check the markings around the heart rate monitor on the back and it will say what series number it is (unless it is an original Apple Watch which doesn't have a series number). The original Apple Watch, Series 2 and Series 3 have stainless steel versions, but the Series 1 never did.Thank you. So, what you're saying

Yep. You are correct. I'm apparently still learning, also. I called Apple. I have the Product Number from a picture of the box. It is the First Generation Stainless Steel Apple Watch. I already bought it and it's brand new, but after I told her what I found out, she did offer a refund and I can return it. So, that's good, but I got a pretty good deal on it and I'm not sure I want to return it. Stainless Steel is just so much nicer/prettier to me than the aluminum. I don't use them for working out. But I LOVE them!!! I would have one in every color and series if I could. Lol. I appreciate your response's and knowledge. Thanks so much!!!7000 series is just the type of aluminum. I've noticed that a lot of people selling used Apple Watches don't seem to know the difference between the original Apple Watch (sometimes retroactively referred to as Series 0 by the tech crowd) and the Series 1 and incorrectly identify their original Apple Watch as Series 1.
The Series 0/Original is getting outdated FAST. It will NOT receive anymore wOS updates and with the next Apple Watch getting close it is even more out of date. The S0 is VERY slow and limited feature set. Unless you are getting for WAY under $100 it is not a good deal. I wouldn't even pay $50 for a new SS S0Yep. You are correct. Wow! Yeah, might should return it then. It was a replacement under Apple Care. So, it's just the watch, no band, no charger. I really have no idea how long she's had it, but it's never been used, never been charged. Just been in the box.The Series 0/Original is getting outdated FAST. If it has been sitting in a box and never used/charged the battery could be suspect too. All originals are nearing the end of their battery life anyway.
I still have my S0 but only as a backup. Couldn't stand to use it for more than a few days now.
A replacement is NOT "brand new". It is a refurb and while Apple refurbs are great they are not new. Also no band or charging puck lowers the value to almost nothing IMO.Wow! Does anyone know why they discontinued the SS Series 1 Apple Watch? Or do they still make them and I just can't find one? Thanks.
Thank you. I've already decided to return it. I learned a lot today. Lol. Thanks to all the much more educated people than me about apple watches. I honestly just assumed that Apple had made a stainless steel series 1. But then when I couldn't find out any info, I thought, I've just been scammed. But the reality is that she had no clue what she was selling and just listed it as a Series 1 Stainless Steel Watch. And I certainly didn't realize that replacement watches through Apple Care were refurbished. That,in itself, was a deciding factor for me to return it. I've heard horror stories about refurbished electronics. Thanks for your advice. I truly appreciate it and value it.Obviously others have answered your questions in this post, but my only advice I would _not_ opt for a first generation Apple Watch, and if applicable, I would just wait to two months if Apple introduces their new watches and they might have some other discounts/alterations with the older style Apple Watches as well.
