I have already searched and have not found a definitive answer.
I just bought the Series 9 stainless steel titanium 45mm.
I bought a cover for is for when I lift weights work out etc.
After reading a thread in the forum still no definitive answer.
I saw where someone said it had the PVD coating and another
saying it was DLC.
I had a space black a while back but was lost I thought about buying a used series 5
but decided to go with the 9 SS Titanium.
So again how scratch resistant is this particular finish. I tend to baby
my electronics somewhat.
Thanks

Graphite SS my bad thanks for the correction
there have been discussions when the SBSS was dis-continued (except Hermes) on the coating of the graphite and it was confirmed it was(is?) PVD, and I assume it still is. Apple initially didn't say anything in the specs but that was later updated, this goes 2 years back.
I do recall a couple posts here where folks had scratches in the SS (gold or graphite) but it doesn't seem to be a real issue, so you should be fine.
might want to do a search in this forum

Graphite is PVD.

As long as you don't abuse it or use a Milanese loop it will hold up great. Not as strong as DLC but will still be very durable.

Cases have the potential to cause more damage than they prevent because they trap dirt and debris underneath. That dirt/debris gets pressed against the casing of the watch and friction over time causes scratches and wear.

My dad has the Graphite and it is pretty scratched up. I was surprise as I have had 2 space blacks (DLC) steel and Ti and both are flawless. I would go with the regular stainless as you can polish the scratches away easily (unlike the graphite).

I don't baby my watches and when I had a regular SS it picked up plenty of marks but I kind of liked it for character. When I sold it I polished not for a couple of minutes and it came up like new.

Just don’t shine up the non-silver models as this will probably also remove the coating.
