Can someone explain to me the benefit of the Stainless Steel over the Aluminum on the 12 versus 12 Pro? I think the stainless was the only difference other than the camera, right?

So if you keep it in a clear case, then it really doesnt matter. its just for looks and scratches?

I dont think I'm going to buy the pro. stainless and better camera are not a big enough deal for me to spend the extra.

My 11 Pro Max in the green has no scratches on the stainless, looks as good as day one, and its out of a case half the time.

I will have the clear mag cover on it anyway, so that should protect the aluminum from scratching

For the average user, just marketing. They've positioned steel as the premium build material, though weirdly it started out the other way round (iPhones vs cheaper iPod touch) and steel is actually a cheaper metal than aluminium (though costs more to shape due to higher melting point etc). The Apple watch was the first device to make steel the premium option.

Not sure why everybody's going on about the SS scratching. I haven't had a case on my phone for months and these itty bitty ones at the top were all I could find after closely analyzing my 11 Pro. Needs to be said that I'm by no means gentle with it either.

Steel always looks better, it’s also stronger and gives a more “premium” feel as it is heavier.
