Are there any stand-alone video capture programs out there for the Mac? I recently got a new HDV camcorder and I'm not too fond of Final Cut Express' HDV capture functions/features.

I realize that my video editing is still constrained to the capabilities of Final Cut Express, but I'm just looking for a different way to capture & log video clips in a more flexible environment.

Thanks!

You should have got a avchd camera. The new log and transfer tools in Final Cut are all built in cocoa and are really nice.

You should be able to use iMovie though, it worked great with plain DV.

I've never used iMovie to capture video... maybe i should check it out.

the only reason i don't like to capture HDV footage in FCE is because as soon as you connect your HDV camcorder - it just takes over and starts capturing without ever bringing up the capture window. This "easy capture" skips over Final Cut's powerful logging tools... and that's annoying.
