I'm looking at a 27" 2560X1440 monitor for my '09 (flashed to 5,1) Mac Pro. Should the standard equipment graphics card with 512MB work OK? Using for photography (Photoshop, Canon software), movies. Currently using a 23" Acer at HD res. Will soon be doing 3D modeling, gaming, light video editing but nothing heavy duty. If an upgrade is needed, what's a cost effective way to go? Thanks in advance for any insights.

    Hello,

Pretty sure the 120GT will bite the dust for any gaming/3D on the higher res... It's painful already at 1900*1200 with most games.

Thanks. Kind of figured. Any recommendations? I would like to try some modeling and if the card could be used for gaming so much the better. I guess what I'm looking for is a general purpose high(er) end card.

    Hello,

There are good ATI cards as well: HD 6xxx and HD7xxx. I have a 6870, and it works great, but I've read the nVidia FAQ and they seem to work just as well if not better. Just look for a compatible card in your price range.
