I have been using standby for the past few nights and notice that if I set it to the digital clock(s) all the way swiped to the left they show up fine. However when sleeping for some reason it will randomly go back to the widgets screen showing instead the calendar and date for example. Is there a way to get it to stay on the clocks?

Hi fellow scuba haha, I haven't experienced this as I always set my phone/watch to DND Sleep but I believe the display on standby is tied to the magsafe charger being used (e.g. it remembers the setting per charger). Are you on Standby on magsafe or plugged in? Just thinking that maybe that is causing it?

Hello! Currently using it on magsafe. I guess I would understand if it happened at the beginning of when I was going to sleep. But this changes it in the middle of the night.

I bet it thinks sometime in the night I want to see the calendar as a new day has started. And then it puts that on screen.

<<
  1. Smart Rotate automatically rotates widgets to the top of the stack when they have timely, relevant information to show.

So it seems the Clock in Stand-By mode turns off after a 20ish seconds.
Even if you have iPhone 15 Pro with Always On Display.
Apple expects you to wave or at least move something for the screen to come back on.
This is no bug but a feature it seems?

Is this true? I was really hoping they would have addressed this issue! The AoD always had this problem and it absolutely causes it to be useless for me. When I wake up in the middle of the night I want to be able to glance over at the phone and see what time it is…just like you would with a regular nightstand clock. I always thought it was pretty funny that a feature called the “Always on Display” could be set to be always off but couldn’t actually be set to be really always on…🤣

14Pro - moving my head to look at the screen is enough to activate the display.
I did have trouble at first, so I disabled all StandBy related settings, performed at Forced Restart, and enabled my preferred StandBy settings and it's woking fine.

It's a shame none of the clock faces (on the first two-widget screen) will show if an alarm is set.

It's also irritating that you need to be in standby mode to actually check/change the widgets. My 11 won't unlock via FaceID when in landscape so I either have to wait until it times out and I can enter my PIN or twist my head around!

But then the entire thing with multiple lock screens and contact posters is also a GUI and user-interface disaster in my opinion.

I stopped reading after ‘moving my head’ 😉
