Noticed this on my iPhone 6S Plus. Definitely wasn't like that a few days ago, and I've only had the phone for a week - so this started in the last day or two.

What gives?

Pretty much something is stuck in the background, or tracking something in the background 24/7. Hard reboot might fix that. Or delete any new apps that you've installed in the last week and download them one by one with a few hours in-between to find the culprit.
