It's not a 4G phone, just iOS4. Which means it is Operating System 4. Reason it is called iPhone 4 and not iPhone 4G. It's because of the OS.

No, that's completely false. It's iPhone 4 because it's the 4th model.

went to our store around 8:40 am which opened at 9:00 am with only 5 ppl who had pre-ordered in front of me. The store had 52 iPhones ready, mostly pre-orders i guess. My friend and I walked out after 45 mins with 2 brand new iphones 4 and we didnt even preorder nor get reservations :D

IN UR FACE :p just kidding

All of that fun, surrounded by unbathed smelly geeks talking about their favorite Babylon 5 episodes!

Oh, look, there's one nodding off. Quick, skip him while he dreams about touching a girl for the first time. Take his can of Red Bull while you're at it. Quick, quick!...Oh, look, a gi-gi-girl! Nobody make eye contact!
Your stereotype's a little dated. In fact, it's creaking and lost any faint laughs it might have had when you were telling it back in 1999. The last time I was in line for an iPhone (2 years ago), I went with my brother. We stood and chatted with a very sexy waitress. Eye-contact was made, numbers were exchanged, and my brother did get laid.

The stereotype that only geeky, smelly, Babylon 5 nerds wait in line for an Apple product is a tired cliché at best. A real yawner--I mean, is that really the best you can do? That dated, worn-out, hackneyed stereotype? There's a rich variety of folk who wait in such lines, including a lot of sexy young ladies.

Maybe, if you waited in a line or two yourself, you could stop being a smelly geek locked in your basement, wanking off to internet porn. :p

Got to the mall at 9:45 and the entrance that I went(which everyone said was going to open first) to got really out of hand so I said screw this and went to another entrance because I thought "They're gonna open all of them eventually, might as well wait over there and not have to deal with these j@cka$$es"

N-E ways turns out they open the entrance I went to first lmao and I was the third one in line for reservations!!!

Willow Bend Mall, Plano, TX 6pm. My AT&T store in Lewisville said they will have 450 phones on June 29.

I waited 7 hours to have to be told to buy a phone at full price because of ATT and their stupid business plan. Im getting a phone tuesday.

Waited since 4am till 12 pm, the first mistake they did is they let people enter the Mall from an entrance that wasnt mentioned, and they let about 50 people ahead of us even before 6am and thats when the all doors should open. so now instead of having 10 people infront of me, i have 60, then come the people who pre-ordered, the store manager had a great idea, to prove to people that apple that apple doesnt give a rats A$$ about people but only about our money, they were letting in 40 people from the pre-ordered line and 1 person from the walk in line.

So, from 7am since the apple store opened till 12;30, they let in 25 people only from the walk in line, so after waiting from 4am till 12;30pm, 8 1/2 hours, im still at # 50, and for my turn to come....

Wait, so you were at door #1 in the mall and you were 10th in line, but they opened door number 2 and let in "about 50 people", so instead of being 10th inside, you were 60th. That makes sense 50 + 10 = 60.

Now, between 7AM and 12:30PM they let in 25 people (assuming from the walking line). And after let in 25 people, you are now number 50, my question why did you let 15 people in front of you?

60 - 25 = 35 not 50, however 35 + 15 = 50

Also, they have a total of 14 people on duty, 11 of which are guarding stuff and messing around and only 3 actually doing anything. Now, they are letting 40 people PreOrders in for every 1 WalkIn. At 20 mins a person then only 3 phones getting activated every 20 mins (only 3 employees doing anything) and that means every hour only 9 phones at most are getting activated. So to get 41 phones activated (so 1 walkin can get activated), it will take 4:40 hr (41 rounded up to nearest 3 = 42 / 9 = 4.6 --> hours = 4:40 hrs).

Amount of time between 12:30 PM and 7 AM = 5:30.
So in 5:30 only 1 WalkIn should have been sold (and 45 PreOrders), but in reality according to you 25 had been activated in front of you.

So either you are in some sort of temporal causality loop or you are exaggerating to a GREAT degree.

I understand you are tired, upset, ect. But really be logical, they have to take care of the customers that fought with the PreOrder system.

I am sorry you had to wait, but if you dont like it leave and go to ATT on Tuesday.

I PreOrdered at Best Buy and was in and out in 20 mins, no waiting and no fuss.

You just didn't plan well, I recommend you plan better next year, maybe PreOrder. Or as a complete Alternative, Wait all night for a Droid X and switch to Verizon, I know there wont be a line for that, so no hassle for you!

Grrrr.

Wish I was at the Alderwood Mall Apple Store instead of traveling through Tacoma-Seattle traffik that took all of 3 hours or more.

Wonder what was given out at the store?

I like cool free food/drinks and stuff.

mmm But you got to shop at our brand new Apple store!

my apple store gave out way more than enough drinks and snacks. that includes coffee, tea, water, gatorade, poptarts, cookies, chips and pizza!

it was very nice but at the same time would have wished those employees would have been helping out people inside to get the line moving faster. :p

5 1/2 hours in line (with reservation) at the Apple Store in Skokie, Illinois. Staff kept bringing out bottled water and snacks, tried to give us estimated waiting times, couldn't have been nicer or more friendly. Fun people in line, too.

Now I'm sunburned, overdue on yard work, and I've got a new iPhone with no dropped calls, signal strength issues, or yellow screen.

Life is good!

To all those who've had frustrating experiences today, hang in there. It'll all work out for the best. There's an iPhone in your near future, and you won't end up being an Android troller. Ha!Ha!

Smooth :) Then again, I actually know people who feel waiting in these lines is more/less a social gathering and don't feel it as a chore. :apple:

3.5 hours

3 and 1/2 hours in line, with staff giving water, bagels and cheese, and cookies. The "reserved" line was about 300 people long (I was at 2/3 position). The "non-reserved" line was probably even bigger.

Just want to underline: this iphone is awesome. The display is just incredible and ios4 has changes that might be small, but dramatically improve the "feeling". I experienced better call quality too. <3 :apple:

Candidate for worst lines at any Apple store? Valley Fair Mall, San Jose CA

Report from Apple Store at Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, CA (heart of silicon valley and closest store to Cupertino)... As of 8:30pm tonight there were still hundreds of people waiting (my best guess is at least 400 people). Store employees were assessing the line to decide if they could serve everyone by midnight (and my guess is certainly NOT). Other forum users reported that this store had more than 2000 reservations and clearly they couldn't handle this many in a day.

11 hours in line at Manhattan Beach CA store... They fed us 4 times.. must have been 750+ people. Sunburnt and tired. I'll NEVER do this again... but I got my phone!

Roosevelt Field, LI, NY: It was so easy when I reserved, when masses of people had trouble. In the same light, I thought I had it made when I arrived early yesterday and was one of only three people just outside the store. One person out of the three of us was talking to a friend at the Manhasset store, who said the store was encircled by the hundreds of people. I was absolutely giddy.

Well, just like the joke where people in hell were enjoying coffee while waist deep in sh _ t, and were told that coffee break was over and it was time to stand on their heads in it; a mall maintenance man in a foul mood said we weren't allowed in the mall and had to go outside, basement level parking garage, and join everyone else in line.

Everyone else?!

Six hours later, I had my phone.

it was very nice but at the same time would have wished those employees would have been helping out people inside to get the line moving faster. :p

Why does everyone assume that all Apple Store employees are trained to sell product? There are a number of jobs that are normally back-of-the-house and it was likely those people who were out front helping to manage the lines and hand out food. The kid who was doing that at my store was clearly new and eager, but needed a lot of guidance. Anytime someone had a question about the product or their particular upgrade issue, he went over to the much more experienced person who was gating the main door to ask the question and she would then send someone else over to answer the question.

Why are they waiting? The phone is on sale FOREVER!

...and it seem like there just may be an issue with the reception. Anybody hear about that yet? :p

Fantastic!!!

Fantastic!!!
People are so crazy sometimes
Once I saw something similar in UK (London) - it was the first night of selling Harry Potter book :D

No, that's completely false. It's iPhone 4 because it's the 4th model.

You might want to get the facts first before you say someone is completely false. This was explained in detail by Steve Jobs himself at the WWDC a few weeks ago why it was called iPhone 4. It's not a 4G phone even though one is in the works but they are waiting on carriers to get the 4G network in place. So because it is iOS4 they called this phone iPhone 4. You can watch the WWDC on Apples site and hear it for yourself. Even though one can make the assumption that because it is the 4th generation iPhone that is why it is called iPhone 4 but that is not the case in this situation.
