As far as I understand this excludes all Target Starbucks locations as they lack wifi to begin with.

Target locations as well as barnes and nobles are licence locations. These are not affiliated with corporate Starbucks locations in anyway other than selling our products. FYI

I remember going to Apple.com while at Starbucks was always free, you had to pay to go to the rest of the web....

About time tho that SB jumps on the ol free wifi bandwagon. I do prefer McDonalds Frappe over anything from Starbucks anyways :p and it's cheaper.

Maybe he was just trying to say "there," as in he wasn't at a Starbucks at the moment. Otherwise, he would have used "here."

But then again, maybe not. :)

I think using "there" like that would have been enough to make my head explode.

"Me no want there coffee... me want HERE coffee..."

is this going to make their coffee taste better?

No, but it will still taste better than 99% of the places one can get coffee. Including every restaurant, every hotel, every gas station, and your house.

About Damn Time!

Finally, no more hassles with AT&T signup and getting a gift card. Such a poor design. Also, apparently, Starbucks is giving discounts to people that hold mayor positions through FourSquare. I thought that was pretty interesting.

Not true.

You can easily get better coffee at many restaurants and competing coffee shops (particularly Peet's and mom-and-pop shops). You can get a better cup at home as well.

Great news.

For those of you bagging on Starbucks, most here probably don't remember the world pre-Starbucks (and it wasn't that long ag). They were like Julia Child but for coffee...finally suburbia could have that taste of mochas, lattes and cappuccinos.

Granted their were local cafes in some towns, not in mine. If you wanted coffee, you got it from the diner with little one-shot creamers. I moved to Berkeley and fell in love with Pete's coffee. Much better than SB, but did not have the retail model...they are more into distribution and I can now find it in the local market.

The point of cafe's is to sit around and talk. It's not to grab your frappuccino and run. Glad Starbucks is offering an incentive to sit around and relax at the cafe. Maybe it will start some good discussions and rewake cafe culture.

I'm surprised Starbucks of all places didn't already have wi fi a long time ago!

They had it at first then got rid of it for free. But many locations still had it for free. In my town starbucks would go out of business without free wifi.

Proud to say i havent been in one this year :) !!!!

Thats strange because I thought Starbucks always had free wi-fi.
At our local branch it is free & always has been at least since i moved to the area (5 years ago)

I also seem to remember a starbucks/mac team up announcement a few years ago by Steve Jobs saying it was free wi-fi - did I get confused?

Why does that make you proud?

Seems like a pretty lame thing to be proud of.

Now let's see if Starbucks Japan here follows suit!..

Wouldn't hold my breath though...this is a country that likes to pay for expensive things..

I definitely prefer the espresso from my home to Starbucks... and there's a Peet's a 5 minute walk from my home.

I liked the "Charbucks" comment a few back - definitely they over-roast their beans for my tastes.

Did you know that you can't find "French Roast" coffee in France unless it's imported from the US? ;)

See, and I think that Peet's way over-roasts their coffee.

Some of Starbucks' medium roasts are very nice.

I work at starbucks, and I'm glad I don't have douche bags like you guys as customers haha. But I agree, our coffee is really nothing special.

Dude, throw me a free drink coupon.... I know you take them for your friends......:p

The mediums are the only decent ones we have, IMO. The best coffee we ever had, arabian mocha sanani, got discontinued (just like every other worthwhile product we've ever carried, case in point valencia and melon syrups), so I just drink shots now.

As for the coupons, they're locked in a drawer somewhere guarded by the managers. They've taken all the fun out of this job over the years :(

The Casi Ciello is a pretty good medium.... but it's a seasonal roast.

When a friend of mine worked for Starbucks, the manager was shady (and was eventually fired), and he didn't really keep track of the coupons.:D

The Starbucks I go to is right near a university, so it's always packed with studying students. It makes it difficult to find a chair sometimes.
