Download isn't too bad. It took about an hour - hour 1/2 to download. Both accounts I have for Mac Beta haven't received a key. Got mine from another source.

So you'd recommend the PC version over the MAC??

Not at all, can't say I would because the Mac beta was just released. They probably need to fix bugs, and it will run on par with the PC version sooner or later. I'm honestly thrilled the beta is out for Mac now, because regardless of the performance issues, I much rather play the Mac beta, instead of having to boot in Windows just to play it. More than anything, the game bogging down happens when I haven't explored the map, very weird. As long as the area is not shaded, it's all good. Plus, I do play this on 2650x1600 resolution, might go down a notch for the Mac version til they fix this.

It's like xmas this year for Mac! SCII and Steam, yay! Can't wait to play Team Fortress 2, rock on.

Finalcut, the GameStop copy may say "PC" but Blizzard's games are playable on both Mac and PC using the same disc. Even on GameStop if you open up the System Requirements, under OS it says "Windows / Mac."

That being said, the code that GameStop is usable for both PCs and Macs. The code activates the game in your Battle.net account, from there you can either download the PC installer or the Mac installer. I'm downloading the Mac installer right now (I got the code about 1.5 hours ago but I was in the middle of a final) and it says it will take about 70 minutes to complete (big file...).

Excited to play, even if it is a little glitchy at first I've been waiting for this game for a LONG time, wish I would've known I could've entered the beta before now. I have the newest Core i7 15" MBP so it'll be interesting to see how it handles that hardware, it should be plenty capable.

I'm in....

Ordered from gamestop before 11 A.M. And got the beta key around 5:00...

Guess what I'm gonna be doing tonight? Not getting my engineering from 443 to 450...

I received an email with 2 keys and want to give one away.

Earlier this week I received an email with 2 keys, and will gladly give one away.
I used one for myself and I'm JJJ.fff on Battle.net.

Here's how to get my second key:
Follow me on Twitter (@JustinFreid), and @reply me with why you should get it. I'll give my extra key to the person who convinces me he or she most deserves it.

There are 3 stipulations:
  1. Don't request a key if you already have one.
  2. Only make one request, that is one @reply to me, per person (don't use multiple Twitter accounts).
  3. You must not sell the key if I give it to you.
Also, if you later get invited with 2 keys, as I think those who submitted Mac systems do, I request that you give one away to a stranger in a manner that you see fit.
Feel free to friend me on Battle.net if you get my extra key or if you're already on and want to play.

Good luck! ;)

Runs perfectly with high (not ultra) settings at 2560x1440 on my i7 iMac. :) Really fun game, though nothing really *new*. Blizzard playing it safe but making a solid game here.

I'm kind of disappointed that the most powerful non-professional mac computer (ie. not Mac Pro) right now can't handle the Ultra setting at native resolution on a game that is known to be not be very graphic intensive. Lowering the resolution for me is unacceptable as it really degrades the quality of the image.

The best gpu you can get on an imac right now is the ATI mobility 4850... and only the 512 MB version to boot. ATI has had a full line of 5XXX mobility cards out for a while now I kind of wish Apple would offer a current generation card as an option.

If Apple wants to get serious about gaming they need to fill the huge void in their product line. No one wants to pay $3K for a Mac Pro with Xeon processors and over priced generation-old graphics cards to run games slower than a cheaper PC. I don't really like the screen of the imac, the mac mini is way underpowered for games and so are all the laptops since they too have mobility gpus.

I'm just 'some guy' and maybe I don't have the "holy vision" of Apple but what I do know is that if they released a new machine in the Mac Pro case, with an i7 processor and current generation gpu I would buy it immediately. I can't be the only one that thinks this way.

As it stands, I'm either going to build a hackintosh or just stay with Windows.

You're so generous! I'm not quite familiar with tweeter, but I'll give a shot for my son.

ahh thanks for the clarifications
I'm gonna pre-order then

let us know frame rates etc!

My Late-2009 Mac Pro runs it on Ultra settings with no lag or stuttering. I don't know the frame rate, but it looks like it's at least 50fps to me. Very smooth, even during very large battles.

Your i7 iMac should be fine.

For anyone who got in with the PC beta, the OS X beta now available for download, you don't need a new key or anything.

I have an older mac at home, I'll download it and give some fps stats and the like.

I ordered mines online at around 12 am. I wonder if there's any chance the beta key is going to come this weekend. Should I call my local Gamestop store to claim it or do they not have any power over to do anything?
