I want to use the Stardict Dictionary application.
http://stardict.sourceforge.net/download.php

I download it, I installed it, but when I run it displays a window with non-readable characters(like small rectangles). So I cannot use it.
I have leopard 10.5.7 and the whole osx environment runs in english.

Does anyone ever had a problem like that? What should I look for, to solve it?

I downloaded it and gave it a try. I had the same problem - the font showed up as small boxes in the definition window.

You can fix it by changing the default font (I assume it's the Asian font that's giving you trouble?).

In the upper right-hand corner of the Stardict window, click on the button that looks like a home-folder icon. This gives you a main menu:

Go into Preferences, and choose an Asian font. Here you can see my choice - I've had good experience with this one working for most things. I'm running 10.5.6, and my environment also runs in English.

Once I did that, I got both Chinese and Japanese definitions showing up fine.
