Hmm, don't really know. If the screen lights up and the Apple logo appears, your iPad is turned on.:p

I remember that my last iPad, for starting, don’t need all that seconds (confirm 5/6 sec)

Mine starts up less than one second, not five seconds. That’s too long.

Click on start button, then swipe up to get to the home screen.

If my 11” is turned off and I hit the start button, it takes more than a second. I hold until the Apple illuminates. Just under 5 seconds.

If you mean slide to power off as shutting down, I never do this. I just use the on off button on the side to turn it off and then back on again.

Why would anybody use the slide to power off all the time? I only use that perhaps once a month, unless you are just asking for the Slide to power off and then on again time it takes.

If I use the slide to power off and then back on again, it would take me 3 1/2 to 4 seconds to get to the Apple logo than a few more seconds longer to get to the Face ID or the touch pad to enter my passcode.

I have seen people asking the same question about iPhones. I believe iOS 12.1.1 requires the button to be pressed longer to startup an iPhone or iPad that is off. So far I have only seen it mentioned by people with devices that have Face ID.

It's possible Apple added this to prevent it from accidentally being turned on. They did this with Macs a few years ago - requiring a longer button press to turn the machine on.

I don't turn my iPhone X or iPad Pro off, so I can't personally say if there is any difference.

Ok. Thank you so much for your experience. Initially I’m thinking that my iPad have some problems. This thread has removed any doubt
