As opening Safari with several pages open takes quite some time on my iPhone 3G, I thought it might be a good idea to have Safari start with an empty page every time it starts.

Unfortunately, other than putting a web clip with "about:blank" on the Springboard (which doesn't get any icon) I have no clue how I could do this.

Any ideas?

I set up a very simple web page - just a few lines of text, and create a bookmark to it that I save as an icon and use that to start safari.

After a while i thought about it and turned it into a short list of preferred links like bbc news etc

It is so light it opens instantly even over the slowest of connections

mine is at www.dur.ac.uk/s.g.applegarth/iphone.htm if you want to see or use.

That's a good idea, Stephen,

I'll try to come up with a page of my own and host it somewhere.

Can Safari read from the iPhone's local memory?
