start up disc when external HD is connected

Whenever I start up my mac book pro with my LaCie 1TB ext HD attached via FW800 it tries to boot from the LaCie instead of the internal HD. Obviously there is no OS on my ext HD since it's a movie back up so I just get the flashing folder icon.

What do I need to do?

Go to System Preferences > Startup Disk, and make sure your internal is selected there.
