6 seconds for shut down!

Is this normal? I had no applications running!

Looks about right as far as I can tell...my PB takes about 15 seconds to shut down and 45 seconds to boot.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Intel Macs. Soooo much faster than my iBook.

It takes 55 seconds to go from chime to fully usable desktop/Finder. Don't know how long it takes to shutdown, it can vary though.

Are you asking if these are too short, or too long? I have the same computer, and after upgrading the RAM to 2gb, it boots in about half that time (into osx, windows is a bit longer). But yeah, out of the box, that seems fine

MacBook Pro about the same.

MacBook Pro 2.0 GHz
2 GB RAM, 7200 RPM hard drive

10 seconds to shut down (with nothing running)
35 seconds to dock showing, desktop icons visible, and all notification icons showing. (This includes Mail and iChat starting to load, but not yet fully loaded, and two programs that appear in the notification area (Salling Clicker and Missing Sync,) but the timing is only to 'usable Finder'.) If I disable all my startup items, it drops to 25 seconds.

27 seconds is considerably slow for me! 🙁
When I first got it out of the box it was a tad bit faster, noticeably faster.

Shut down time for me is about 6 seconds from the time I hit the shut down button.

get a SSD and you will fly .... mine shutdown in like 5 sec and boot up around 10 to 15 is amazing ...

Totally agree, I have a 120GB OZC Vertex 2 SSD.

I can boot and be on Skype within 18 seconds and close down in less than 5.

It makes a massive difference!
