alright... i have been running mac os x tiger since the day it came out and it has been chugging along on my ibook just fine... though through all the uninstalls of shareware, demos, games that are demos, freeware and the occasional wmp 9 shuffle... i feel like i want to start anew with my ibook.. so, what would be the best way to accomplish such a task? zero the hd and reinstall the os? anyone here have any other tips/tricks?

I recommend doihng a clean install every 3 months.

JUst backup your important daa (documents, images, music) onto CDs, then insert the Tiger DVD and do a clean install.

get some more ram and a better hd (7200rpm) in that sucker then it will fly
