In fact the power consumption of the Haswell desktop parts is actually *higher* than that of Ivybridge (bizarrely). So even any thought of power saving / green issues / electricity cost etc goes out of the window.

The only benefit is a 2.9% CPU speed improvement. Of course most operations are not only CPU bottlenecked, so +2.9% would be the best you'd see and usually less than that. i.e. undetectable unless you are trying to specifcially measure it.

These two posts tell the story. Get it. At least you've built up some anxiety, so when you get it, you will be further amazed. Hunger is the best sauce

I bought my iMac in mid-June maybe a week after the rumour that a haswell update was coming in late June or early July.

It never happened.

Predictions are based in supply chain, but is not always illy indicative, as the supply chain fluctuates for many reasons, one of them being new models coming.

As usual, if you need t just buy it and don't look back. It's what I did and I've been using my mac for 2 months pretty happily.

Go volunteer at a soup kitchen or a big city homeless shelter. Perfect remedy for ****ed-up priorities like that.

If you are getting panic attacks maybe you should see someone about it.
I get panic attacks and have had to go on the pills. But I have found an alternative which works better.
