I've been running Mavericks for some time now, and every time I reboot I get the incompatible dialog box telling me that flip4mac is incompatible and has been moved to the folder where such things are relocated to. Fine. I had removed that app and all of its plist files etc. Continue to see that message with every boot.....any idea why, and any way to tell it to stop already?? Thanks in advance...

Did you also remove the Flip4Mac plugin from the folder below?

Note this is the main /Library and not the user library folder.

Code:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins

Hugh, I did that yesterday. Downloaded and installed new version. Logged out and back in, same message. Used the uninstaller, logged out and back in, message still there...maybe running DiskWarrior will dislodge this errant message.

Diskwarrior isn't made to remove software, so no, it won't. Keep digging, you have some vestige of the old version of Flip4Mac in there somewhere.

Just out of interest, do you know what version of Flip4Mac you had installed? I have a very old one (2.4.4.2) and don't get that message.

Not sure what version it was - had been the working version for Snow Leopard.

Just ran iFileX. It found about 20 files which I deleted. Logged out and back in...sigh, message still there...

Dang... that thing is persistent.

I assume you emptied the trash after you deleted everything from iFileX?

Try this... do a safe mode boot by holding shift when booting and see if it happens. A safe mode boot bypasses all startup/login items and that will help narrow this down.

Beyond crazy....I'd expect this on Windows, but not Mac ;)

Did a safe boot, and yes, it's still there....

Hmm... can you take a screenshot (shift-command-4) of it and post it up here?

I'm wondering if it is just some kind of adware or something of the sort.

Don't think so - it's been there ever since upgrading to Mavericks. I'm thinking it got stuck in believing the app still exists because I deleted the files instead of using the flip4mac uninstaller....although there is no trace of any of the files left on my mac

Or, why not just install Flip4Mac and FlipPlayer updates that are compatible with MavX?

Looks like he already tried that.
