Startup Problem.....

What applications should I have starting up with my mac. I just turned everything off so that nothing turnes on, and it is acting funny. Is ituneshelper or system (something but i forgot) needed? what is needed?

My dock has stopped working... it doenst magnify... and after startup, things are slow and choppy...
