Hey guys, anyone having call issues in cars with 13.2? I have the iPhone 11 Pro, was working fine in my bmw, but ever since 13.2, I got constant crackle during calls via Bluetooth. However playing music via Bluetooth has no issues. The call quality has dropped considerably since 13.2. See

Preach.

Since upgrading to 13.2 I have a terrible crackle on my BT calls on my BMW. I’ve got an iPhone 11 Pro also.

What model and year do you have? I have a ‘11 5 series, I’m wondering if this is impacting just the CIC systems

I first bought the iphone 11 pro when it came out before most of the updates. I had to return it because of the bluetooth problems. I drive a 2017 Toyota Highlander the bluetooth would not stay connected. Plus the bluetooth I use at work would not stay connected as well. After keeping up with all the post on updates for IOS 13. Sad to say I don't think Apple is going to fix this problem or it would have been fixed by now. But the good news is ( you have a phone that takes great pictures ) and this is what most people care about that Apple is working on.

I updated to 13.3 beta 2, and the issue is now resolved. From my testing, looks like it is an issue with only 13.2 on iPhone 11 series, as my wife's 11 pro has the same issue. However my kids iPhone X, 6s and XR all work fine on 13.2 in my car.

Same issues with XS and 2 series 2017

good to know, I didn’t have an XS to test with. you should try the beta and see if it resolves your issue also. Planning to upgrade my wife’s 11 pro max to confirm if it resolves her issue.

Also since around iOS 11, if i hold the voice key on my steering wheel (i don’t have Bmw voice), Siri activates on the phone but never works first time. Previously it was flawless

Confirmed on XSM. Though the crackle is annoying, it’s not really a major issue for me.

Still getting the static on both ends of the call with 13.2.3

I’m in sales and use it a lot so it’s annoying as I use it several times a day.

For me the problem also started at about the time I updated to 13.2 on my iPhone 11 Pro Max in my 2017 Toyota RAV4.

I hear occasional buzzing noises that come and go of variable lengths and volume level. According to my wife I sound staticky on her end. When I listen to my Google Voice messages through the app I also hear the buzzing. But I don’t hear it when listening to music or podcasts via various apps.

I was wondering if it’s the U1 chip that’s causing RF interference, and perhaps they enabled the chip with 13.2?

So much of previously working well bluetooth went to hell mid-iOS 11.

WiFi and Bluetooth were perfect in iOS 7 or 8

then they rewrote the entire stack for some reason. maybe to let corporations and other entities track us more. Or to keep us from being tracked who knows anymore lol?!?

I wish they would just find a copy of the old stack and paste it back in.

Upgraded to 13.3 beta 3 and static is now back. Beta 1 and 2 were perfect, dunno what Apple did but they again messed up beta 3. Not as bad as 13.2, but enough thats it’s annoying and having hard time hearing other party. Getting bit ridiculous, just when you think Apple finally fixed the Bluetooth issue it’s back to being unusable. Back to using my airpods for hands free in the car :(

The AirPods use Bluetooth for wireless communication - so those should have static too. Have you tested using your AirPods yet?
No issues using AirPods pro

Same issue with iPhone 11 and 2019 Corolla. I thought I was going crazy. My daughter's iPhone 7 works perfectly fine. I have no issues with other bluetooth audio in the car. Just phone calls and Siri.

I had the car at Toyota yesterday for an oil change and they checked it out. They couldn't reproduce it with their phones.

Good news 13.3 beta 4 seems to have fixed the crackling/static issue in my 2011 bmw 5 series. Hopefully stays fixed in the final release.

I have been going crazy with the exact same issue. I even got a replacement phone from Apple for the same problem, but once I updated it to iOS 13.2.3 the problem came back again. Now I installed iOS 13.3 beta 4 as I can’t rollback, but the problem still exists with beta 4. I’m loosing hopes of this getting fixed in iOS 13.3 :(

What car do you have? Also have you tried re-pairing the Bluetooth? Lastly maybe try resetting the network on your phone.
