I accidentally left a static image of a game I was playing for an hour or so after suddenly falling asleep in the middle of my sesh. (I know, it’s stupid)

But do you think the condition of my phone screen’s all good?
‘Cos I have read and heard that the OLED screens are susceptible to image retention or burn in.

My phone did not lock itself on this particular incident and after checking the battery usage, the static image on the game was left on for an hour with around 30% brightness.

Excuse this nonsense, I just want to find solace for my worry. Thanks! 😅

While burn-in is a thing for OLED, to let that happen you really need to let your phone display a static image for a long time. Depending on the panel quality it can range from a couple thousand hours to tens of thousands of hours. Here is a test for TV screen. https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real-life-oled-burn-in-test

In general, there is no need to worry about burn-in during normal use. What’s more concerning should be the eye strain and PWM issue, which has been discussed in this forum a while ago. Just leave your phone displaying something for an hour continuously won’t cause any damage.

Thank you for clarifying, bro!

I was just really worried because the image that was displayed on the incident was really static, though it was a game, there were no movement or whatsoever on it.
