iPhone Status Bar Always Showing

Does anyone know if it's normal for the status bar to always show? For example, whenever I play a video in either the camera roll or from the videos app, it's always there. Was wondering if a tweak is doing that or of its normal. I don't remember it being there in iOS 6.

install StatusBarFix2 from repo.pnre.co.vu and use that until an official fix is out

This is only for stock apps right? as it doenst work for my my Bein Sport streaming app
