I have avoided upgrading to yosemite from mavericks until this week and I regret tremendously!

I do own a mid 2009 MBP 13inch and was afraid Yosemite would slow the system down. I am planning to get a new Mac in July when back-to-school promotion starts and decided to give Yosemite try on my 2009 MBP. It is much faster and smoother than Mavericks. I read a lot of horror stories with 2009 MBP running Yosemite but my experience is totally positive. It even made me consider my decision on purchasing a new MBP!

Do the fonts and high contrast colours of Yosemite not annoy you?

El Capitan will be even better than Yosemite because it is mostly under-the-hood improvements, like in Snow Leopard. So upgrade to El Capitan when it comes out.

For how long will Mavericks be supported with updates from Apple?
Until it is replaced by El Captain in the fall.

EDIT: I read this quickly and thought you wrote Yosemite... Sorry! Isn't Mavericks already unsupported with updates?
