Hey all,

I've been an owner of Xbox 360, Xbox One (When it first came out) then switched to PS4 & now have PS4 Pro.

With the new announcement and soon to be released XBOX ONE X, I am very unsure of what I should purchase.

I am a sole console gamer, meaning I commit to one console and thats it. Here are some key facts about my gaming habits:
1. Multiplayer/Online - is huge for me.
2. FPS (Destiny, Call of Duty) - huge for me.
3. Reliability (need a stable online connection, quality of console, and longevity)
4. Friends - I have friends on both but have more on PS4 as of now.
5. Types of games: Friday 13th, Destiny, COD, Shadow of War, GTA 5, Rocket League & MKX.
6. Quality of game play & FPS (Looking for the best)

Any solid advice? Thanks!

Not sure how helpful this would be, but I actually plan on owning the Xbox One X and I currently on the PS4 Pro. The advantages I see with both platforms is certain games are exclusive to each console. And I like to have the advantage of experiencing games on both consoles if possible.

And truthfully, I look forward to experiencing Xbox One X and all the power It's been boasting. Especially paired with a 4K/HDR TV, I think it will look great.

Yeah that's another reason why. I bought a sweet 4K/HDR TV and I want to utilize my TV. I saw the other posts regarding this but it's mainly around specs rather than the type of guys. (Like what I posted) So still a little puzzled.

Since you didn't list any must have titles that are exclusive, there's really nothing that you'll miss with the move, other than the friends list. From all the Youtube videos (Digital Foundry namely) I've seen, moving from PS4P to XBox X will be like moving from medium-low PC settings to high, and many titles do run at native 4K on the X rather than checkerboarding on PS4P. Let's face it though, some of the differences won't be that noticeable during play, only when examined by the gearheads, and some will be like splitting hair, but we probably won't be discussing this if we didn't like splitting hair ;) DF examined Rise of Tomb Raider on the X, I am a bit disappointed that it can't do 4K/60 although it should've been expected as it takes a 1080Ti on the PC to do 4K/60 on high.

Lastly, deals on Xbox Live Gold membership come on more often than PS Plus, so it may be another plus for the move if you need another reason ;)

This is the clearest look on the same game running on the X vs the PS4P. I have a Scorpio edition ordered but still unsure if I'm picking it up..

You need to change your survey - it states your are going from a regular PS4...

If you have a PS4, go to the Xbox One X.

If you have a PS4 Pro, just hang tight until the PS5...

Yes, unless the patch greatly improves graphics or framerates, it is not really worth it going from a PS4 Pro to Xbox One X.

I think it is sort of interesting when these testers "pixel peep" to show the differences like you have your nose plastered against a 60" TV...

I always prefer a lock 60fps over max visuals, but most patches bump visuals and not necessarily performance.

I happen to sit just 4 feet from my 55" 4K TV (dedicated gaming setup), so yeah I can actually appreciate the minute details, ONLY when I put on my glasses lol. Yeah those guys are total gearheads and not really hardcore gamers. I do love watching them split hair ;)

Whoops - I definitely will change the thread poll, as I currently own the PS4 PRO.

Seems like folks think to stay with the PS4 Pro as opposed to switching to the X. Still kind of waning on me but I think I’ll keep my PS4 pro.

Yeah. When it comes to gaming, GPU power is very important. You'd only be going from 4.1 TFLOPS (PS4 Pro) to 6 TFLOPS (Xbox One X). In the PC GPU World, that's not really worth the couple of hundred dollars upgrade (assume you'd trade in your PS4 Pro to an Xbox One X).

The PS5 is rumored to have 10 TFLOPS and that would be a worthy upgrade in time and money...

I'd stick to whichever platform your friends are on if you're heavily into online gaming tbh.

Although graphically superior, the experience probably won't be so different that a smaller friends list is worth the trade-off.

Also FWIW, Sony seem to be doing a better job in locking down timed exclusive content with games like Destiny/COD.

I would echo the sentiment to stick with the platform your friends are on if you enjoy playing online with them.

As far as time exclusive content, Sony managed to outbid Microsoft this generation, but COD definitely saw expansions sooner on 360 over PS3. Just curious, is it consistently the same amount of timed exclusivity? I noticed COD expansions show up on PS4 about a month before Xbox One, is it the same with Destiny?

We've yet to really see any major differences between the platforms with Destiny 2, but the original game was ridiculous in that Sony managed to somehow extend their timed exclusivity with certain things. To the point that XB1 players only just got certain content recently. It was almost insulting tbh, especially when the player base had already moved onto the new game.
