:( Just wondering if anyone can help me.

I am trying to install Team Fortress 2 and it says "Download Starting" but it doesn't download at all and then steam just crashes out after 3 mins.
I have tried reinstalling steam numerously.
I have reinstalled mac os a few times and no luck.
But when I use bootcamp it works perfectly I had no problems Downloading/Installing

Any suggestions or solutions would be great
    I have a i7 27 imac 16gb ram

Go to the back of the bus

Steam / Valve is basically a PC company that happens to have a Mac client.

I was happy last year when Steam came to the Mac, and appreciate that they give us Mac users access to a bunch of great games. But I've had off-an-on problems with the Steam client. Their problem reporting and resolution system is pretty bad. They're clearly a PC-based company with a PC mentality. They're not focused on the user experience, they're focused on getting their software to run and on cleaning up the inevitable mess (crashes, etc.). It's very non-Apple.

I've given up on Steam twice and left it and my Steam games alone for two or three months at a time. Then some great game will become available (I'm looking at you, L4D2 and Portal 2). The memories of the bad times will have faded and I'll jump in again, wide-eyed and innocent.

Then the (apparently inevitable) cycle of crashes, poor performance, searching the web for answers, modifying my setup, frustrating interactions with their customer service, joy at getting the game to run, rinse, repeat. I don't know if this is the standard for the PC side of Steam, but it's not what I'm used to.

As you may be able to tell, I'm now in the middle of that cycle and will probably swear off Steam in a few weeks after I complete Portal 2 or get tired of trying to get it to run.

In reply to your question, submit a ticket to Steam (a frustrating experience in itself), then check your e-mail in a few days for a reply. Reply to their misunderstandings of your situation. Repeat until done.

re: Help with download not finishing?

A while back, I had a similar issue with TF2 on Steam on my Mac. It would just say it was starting to download an update but never actually appear to download any content -- and of course, you couldn't run the game since it was in the middle of downloading.

I finally got it resolved using a tip someone had on another forum.
They said to simply go into your ~Library\Application Support\Steam folder and find all the files related to TF2 and delete them (while Steam is NOT running so files won't be locked, preventing their deletion).

When you run Steam after that, it'll realize it has to redownload the ENTIRE program for TF2 instead of just a patch, but it should download successfully and get everything back on track and running for you.

Ugh ya I have gone through the dreadful "submit a ticket" before when I had a pc and it took 2 weeks to get the issue resolved. Steam is very frustrating I have scoured the internet so much tried everything and no such luck. I am just stop stressing myself out and just delete steam and forget about it. Time to play SC2 more and hopefully Diablo 3 comes out in the near future then I can waste my life on it :)

As much as I love how Valve was nice enough to give us a Mac client and Mac versions of their games. Fact is, they didn't exactly do the best job. It's better than nothing, but, it crashes quite a bit and has its fair share of errors.

Luckily, once everything is downloaded, and provided you don't mess with anything. It tends to stay fairly stable. I only have trouble when I start editing launch options or server settings now.
