I've just resurrected steam on my intel macbook running Mojave. It has the 'steam will stop running in 0 days' message, just like on my imac which also runs mojave, but it is working. Now it's time to download some games! Unfortunately, no matter what game i try to download, it downloads up to 86%... and then it stops. It's like it doesn't even realize that it has more to download lol.

86% is such a strange number to get stuck at that I think it's gotta be something do with something like a checksum check. I've gotten all of my games to work on my imac before (now it's just updates that have this problem), I've tried to verify integrity of files (it says nothing is installed even though that's clearly not true)

i've tried copying all files over from my imac for a game (it said 'cannot find game'), i've tried deleting the steam download cache 3 times (same result), i've even tried booting in safe mode and then restarting the download (same result).

It even still randomly starts trying to download the game again automatically, but doesn't get anywhere past 86% and 348.7 MB.

Any ideas?

It's because some game downloads are now using a newer format which your old steam version cannot decode. Hence the "corrupt download" bit.

There's another post somewhere on this forum about a command-line tool which will let you download the latest updates for games, but I don't have the link. You could probably find it by searching "steam mojave"

You should be able to do this, and this is what I've done. You must copy the actual game folder inside steamapps/common, as well as the appmanifest_427520.acf that corresponds to the game (your game will have different numbers). This is just a text file, you can open it up in text edit and the name of the game should be near the top. This file also tells steam which "version" the game is, so steam knows when to update it.

I searched but could not find the command line here. Any ideas for further keywords?

Also, I did what you said and copied the files and appmanifest file, but still got the same result:

Did I miss something? Thanks for the help.

After copying the files (one set for a game that needed an update and one for one that did not), it was acting as if I had truly installed the game. But when I tried to run the update, it got stuck, very similarly, each time at 77%.

I tried verifying the integrity of the files, which it should've done because as you can see, it reads the installation as existing. It never got past 0%.

This was the result of that^

I know that's a lot of info but hopefully someone out there can help me try something else. Still unable to find that command line mentioned.

The program is called SteamCMD, I was unable to find the forum post though.

This screenshot looks like it's from the game itself. I don't have deltarune, maybe there are other supporting files? or the

If this is after copying the game files, you may need to remove the quarantine flag. Run xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine /path/to/the/game in terminal.

I know it seems like trying again may fix it, but it will never install with the old steam client, the servers are sending data the client does not understand.

If you are saying that you are trying to update the games after copying them, that still won't work. I will outline the steps below:
  1. Uninstall the game from steam
  2. quit steam
  3. Copy the game folder from steamapps/common on the new/updated mac to the mojave mac's steamapps/common folder.
  4. Copy the appmanifest file.
  5. Start steam. The game should appear in your library, and with a play button. It should not require updating. If the game doesn't launch, you may need to clear the quarantine field, as outlined above.
