What I want to know is if this and other controllers can be used in multiples? Will the new ATV support multiple controllers (say up to 4) at the same time for multi-player games? (Not including iPhones, iPods, iPads)

"Pressure sensitive buttons"... meh... Sony controllers have had this feature since the PS2, yet only a small handful of games have ever bothered to us it.
Schoolboy error. You should well know by now that Apple invented it and everybody else copied it, went back in time and released it first.

I see Steelseries finally hit the right price point. I love that it works with Macs and has a companion app where you can update the controller instead of plugging it in a computer. I only own iOS devices now and won't get a MacBook until later this year. I just hope this works better than the Stratus. That junk won't even pair with my iPad anymore and doesn't work properly with GTA:San Andreas. I will buy this with the new Apple TV as well. Seems just right and a possible good purchase.

You must be new to this platform.
Nope. I've had an iPhone since the first one. I don't mind apple locking us into proprietary format when third parties can choose cheaper options. I won't buy this controller since I'm going to keep my previous MFi controller, but I don't like this precedent.

The new Nimbus controller does indeed have a lightning port instead of a USB port for charging & connecting to A MAC.
the Lightning port can handle higher charge currents upto 2A this translates to faster charging times over USB's 500MaH.
If you are buying this MFi Controller you more than likely have an iPhone/iPad already otherwise why buy it? .. etc. this mean you already have the Apple charger & lightning cable to charge this controller....you see it makes perfect sense.

The Xbox controllers are Bluetooth aren't they? Would they work with the Apple TV? Would be excellent if Microsoft could make it happen.

Hey Dave,
The Apple Controller Framework introduced in iOS7 can support upto 4 Bluetooth connected controllers.
So take ATV's new BlueTooth Remote as being 1 connected controller, this means an additional 3 controllers whether they are MFi Game controllers or just connected iPhones/iPods.

This is awesome, but my burning question is, will existing MFi controllers work with the new Apple TV?
YES All of them! IE:

Regular Bluetooth MFi Controllers
  • MADCATZ C.T.R.L.i
  • MADCATZ C.T.R.L.i Micro
  • Steelseries Stratus
  • Steelseries Stratus XL
  • Steelseries Stratus Nimbus
  • MOGA Rebel
  • Hori HoriPad Wireless
  • PXN Speedy
For Formfitting controllers like
  • GAMEVICE for iPAD Mini
  • GAMEVICE for iPhone6
  • MOGA ACE Power
  • LOGITECH Powershell
These will use the connected iOS Devices Blueooth to connect to the ATV, using it this way will give you a Gamepad controller with a screen, similar to the WiiU Gamepad.
.
But what about games? A new TV Games system without games to play is a certain failure..(looks at all android tv boxes)
Well have no fear..

All current Apple MFi Controller Supported games with translate naturally to the AppleTV, as of today there's over 750 available, admittingly there bad & good games amongst them just like any system, but there are also real AAA gems in there, games like
Modern Combat 5,Transistor,GTA IV, FinalFantasy Range,AG-Drive,Bastion..etc.. the list goes on..
infact here it is : http://mfi4.gamerz.co/topic8.html

Hope this helps ;)

Uhhh... not GTA IV. Sorry Niko.

Is that Logitech Powershell still a useful device, for an ipod touch 6th generation specifically?

I've the SteelSeries wireless MFi iPad controller & it's worth every cent of it's $75 cost!
Even though it's already compatible with the new AppleTV, I'm gonna get this one, too,
so satisfied I am with SteelSeries's build quality & customer service!
