Right now I have 3 step counters installed and every day I get wildly different counts. Is anyone else experiencing this? Thoughts on what to do?

This is so far today:
Apple Activity App: 7,559
Pacer: 8,425
Pedometer ++: 9,199

Also I know Pedometer++ started counting when I was in bed. It said I had walked 300 steps before I even got out of bed this morning.

Hmm doesn't build a lot of confidence

I have tried the following:

1. Apple Health > Sources > Apps > Pedometer++ > disable all data writing, enable all data reading
2. Pedometer++ > Settings > toggle everything off except Automatic Distance Estimation

There is still some discrepancy between the Activity and Pedometer apps after these, but to a much smaller extent (<5% difference).

Interesting. Have you looked in the Health app on iPhone at the actual step data? iPhone and watch steps can be seen there, and with a little investigation you can see how Apple aggregates the two data sets. They seem to count steps from either device, unless they occur at the same time, in to the overall total.

Watch step counters have a harder time of it, as they have direct access to steps reported by the watch, but not from the phone (or a second watch if you have one.) App developers then have to make some trade offs in what they display on the watch, as users will probably compare steps to their iPhone count.

I too have found discrepancies between Apple Activity app and Pedometer ++ and Fitbit. I really like the Activity and Pedometer++ apps, but I want to use just one, not sure which one to stick with - I'm a bit confused...
