Steps on AW only?

I have been walking around with my new series 1 and still have no steps. Do I need my phone with me or can I just get step data from the AW alone?

It should count steps all by itself.

You don't need your phone. Watch will measure your hand swings to calculate steps.

Don't forget that the watch needs the phone with it for the first 20 minutes to calibrate. Then it's good to go without the iPhone.

Got it working, I had to turn off the AW to have it start counting steps for some reason.
