steps to JB/unlock iphone 2g to 3.1.2

i lost my 3g iphone, now i have to use my 2g. Can some nice person please give me the steps to JB/unlock it so i can update it to 3.1.2. its currently JB/unlocked and on 3.0. it loses service alot and its getting annoying. thanks in advance.
 
go into itunes and click restore...then restore and update. then jailbreak with pwnage tool, cuz i think blackra1n only works on 3Gs and 3GS's

No, no, no. Would you please stop spreading misinformation on this board. Almost nothing you post on here is accurate! As for this: blackra1n jailbreaks every iPhone and iPT model ever made. Every. One.
 
So is the updated firmware supposed to fix the service dropping issues? My 2g has been doing that, and it is really annoying, but I hate going through the update process so i have been avoiding it. Fixing the service would make it worth it though.

And is Blackra1n the best option for unlocking right now? I have been unlocked on T-mobile from like 1.1.2 or earlier haha, but I have used all kinds of different ways to update it.

Or is pwnage tool a better option?

Also is MMS working on 3.1.2 yet?

Pwnage Tool should give you zero errors.

Anyone have the answers to my other questions, sorry I have tried to search and stuff, but it is difficult to get info on just the 2g, all the threads seem to be out of date, or taken over by 3g questions.

MMS works fine on 3.1.2 as long as your carrier supports MMS (which T-mobile does, just have to put in the correct APN settings).

Go to iClarified or Hackintosh for tutorials on 2G and jailbreaking and/or unlocking on firmware 3.1.2.

There are also many other threads here about using Pwnage Tool to jailbreak (now Redsn0w is also available).
