Step question.

I just took a 35 minute, 2 mile walk on my lunch break and used Workout. Prior to that, put the watch on around 6:30, got ready, went to work and was in the office for about five hours. The activity app on my phone reports that I have walked 3.38 miles today and reports minute by minute submissions by both my watch and my phone. It seems a stretch that I walked almost a mile and a half prior to my walk (I didn't note the number before leaving.) but is it possible it's duplicating numbers from my phone and watch?

If you walked around the office a bunch you would be surprised how quickly those steps add up.

From my Jawbone I know that 1 mile = approx 2000 steps, and I can easily have that done by the time I get to work in the morning. You'd be amazed how quickly trips to the bathroom (and back), then to get your cereal, then back to the bathroom to brush your teeth can increase your steps. It all add's up.

Also, I think distance is estimated based on your movement, or it's based on the GPS of your phone (which is estimated)

The Apple Watch is likely to be different (better?)

Also you should walk a minimum of 10,000 steps a day (about 5 miles). Unless you bike, run or use other cardio equpment.
