I always wear the same clothes pretty much. I'm not really into fashion or clothes. i just have some solid colored t-shirts and like 2 pairs of jeans. that's all i've worn since 1st grade. i don't see what the big deal is.

How do you live with 2 pairs of jeans? I mean 1) how little variety and 2) how often did you do your laundry?

Currently that fit I have like 5-6 pairs of jeans, 4 pairs of khakis, 3 pairs of casual corduroys, and 2 pairs of dress pants.

How does steve stand wearing the same thing every day?

I am the kind of person who is sort of against spending money (and kind of against money in general), and also against wearing things that little children in 3rd world countries were forced to sew in slave factories...

I basically wear my jeans for a few days straight without washing them, sometimes a week. i wear a new shirt every day, but they are all pretty much the same shirt (just different colours), and I've had them for about 6 years. I also have worn the same pair of $20 sneakers for about 5 years.

It's just how I am. :) I don't care at all what I look like. People that get caught up in clothes are just wasting their lives.

Since reading On The Road in 1960, I've considered suits to be a kind of uniform for non-combatants. I often wear a well-worn Apple polo shirt (black) from the Color Classic era...my pants are made in a friendly Emirate.

Eh, Sometimes I wear the same cloths over the weekend too(as long as there understadibly clean of course). I wear the most of the same stuff, jeans, dockers, tee shirts, and I have actualy bought another black mock turtle and grey one and wear one at least once a week.

I may not care for his choice of clothing, but I do admire his simplicity. I'm sort of the same way. I'll wear a black t-shirt and jeans on weekends (you don't want to wear long sleeve shirts on most days in Florida).

Same here pretty much. I usually get all my clothes at Salvation Army and Savers. there's no point in buying brand new clothes when you can get the same quality + brands used for a fraction of the price.

Maybe its just getting old, but does it seem to anyone else that Steve Jobs has some form of degenerative illness like Parkinsons or MS? I mean, I completely feel bad everytime I see him too closely and I notice it. There is this point when he's not talking in the All Things Digital conference, and his eyes trail off, and his mouth is moving and he's not saying anything.

Even in the clip shown in the YouTube link given at the beginning of this thread I'm not entirely convinced that he was really nodding to someone, and his wavering footsteps almost seemed to benefit from a healthy contingent to establish a sense of equilibrium. Maybe I'm imagining things but he's only a year older than Gates and Gates seemed so much more healthy in comparison. I don't think this is a new question, but it just keeps seeming persistant to me. Everyone is entitled to privacy though, its just tough when he's the driving force behind a multi-billion dollar multinational corporation.

Makes me sad. :(

3 jeans, 1 khaki, 2 dress pants. I do laundry at least every 2 weeks. I have many t-shirts though, like the other dude.

Men who don't wear belts.

Just wrong.

Evenif you don't need one, wear one - it just looks wrong without.

I agree wholeheartedly. I was looking at the picture on stevesoutfit.com and I just noticed it. Normally I don't because he's moving or I'm looking at the keynote but it is wrong. If the pants have belt loops, wear a belt.

Nah... Steve's in great health ever watched a keynote? In that video of him walking he was probably just adjusting his neck. Bill Gates always looked frail and sickly to me. Even though I don;t like him I still felt bad for him after watching a video of him getting hit in the face with a pie, he looked like he was gonna some kind of "fit" or something.

Bill Gates only looks "sickly" in a jocky elitist way. He looks in perfect health (and that pie video is despicable). Neither of them look like they'll be doing one armed push ups any time soon though.

Eh, they're just getting a bit older. Fact of life. People do start... looking old when they get old :)

So what about the long hair and really sharp suit he wore for the Macintosh introduction... he looked like a magician or something :D

I love jeans. They rarely get marks on them, or rather you don't see them, easy to wash, easy to fold, easy to store, and easy to iron (sometimes not even necessary). They don't get all creased up if you don't store them 100% perfectly. Just brilliant. Proper men's clothing, no nonsense.

However I'll give the black turtleneck a miss. If I stoop to the level of fanboyism where one dresses up as Steve Jobs, you have permission to shoot me

I had 2 pairs until recently. Now I have 3 pairs.

I used to wash my jeans every 1-3 times I wore them, depending on what I was doing that day. One day, I was talking with some friends about jeans, and none of them wash their jeans as often as I do. I was surprised. I asked why. They told me that (1) They're jeans, and don't really need washing as much as other pants, (2) The fabric feels better after wearing them in, and don't feel nearly as comfortable or soft after you wash them, and (3) They're jeans!!

I tried not washing them, and they were right.....life is better in unwashed jeans. :) Now, if I don't really do anything extreme in them, or go out to a dirty bar/pub with them on, I wash them every 5-10 times I wear them. Sometimes, I just wear them 10 days in a row. They feel great, they don't smell, and they don't look bad. :)

I'm starting to like just plain t-shirts as well. I have always hated logos, but now, I really don't even like funny quotes, or any sort of writing on them. Give me a plain American Apparel t-shirt of any colour, and I'm pretty happy. I have lots of t-shirts, and I make sure the colours aren't boring. That's my only requirement.

Currently that fit I have like 5-6 pairs of jeans, 4 pairs of khakis, 3 pairs of casual corduroys, and 2 pairs of dress pants.

Because you're essentially a pre-yuppie. You're not really metro, from the looks of it. Metros dress really "fashionably", so to speak. Or they don't, but they dress differently not because they look good, but just want to stand out a bit. You do care about clothes, brands, gear, brands, etc.

I think theman survives with 2 pairs of jeans because his way of thinking is different from yours. Not a big thing, really. :)

I've stopped washing my jeans as well.

Well, Jean i only have 1 decent pair left - the others are so old and have holes in, embarrassing  places and only get used for decorating etc.

Doesn't help that Levis are so damned expensive, some of us have mortgages to pay each month.

Well that makes a change. Usually when I see a discussion about this kind of thing on a forum everyone is like "I wash every piece of clothing after 1 wear, change 3 times a day and take 15 showers".. it's just way over the top. For once everyone is not clamouring to show off how clean they are :D

My jeans get washed once a week or so, but I could easily make them last a couple of weeks if they're not getting really dirty or getting sweated in.
