This seems pretty exciting, I had to break out my old VHS copy of Pirates of Silicon Valley and watch that over again just to break the excitement.

The life of Steve Jobs is a tragic comedy. The things that he has done, the things he has said, it may seem like the man is crazy, maybe he is, or maybe he has his own demons to battle with. At the time Apple was a young fledgling company, and it was one of the pioneers of a different age, a age where technology was fast becoming a forefront in human evolution. People like Jobs and Gates, they were geniuses, they were scary, troubled, they were cutthroat and they did what had to be down, in their eyes the ends justified the means. It had to be done their way, because the future of technology rode on their ideals. They knew that companies like HP or IBM weren't going the shape the computer revolution, how could they know what people needed or wanted? It was a battle to be fought from garages, computer fairs and with sheer tenacity. Its almost as if they had to openly damn themselves for the betterment of others, every cross they had to bare so we could evolve a little more and a little more. Steve was the cutthroat business man, he rode his employees, has tantrums, he got what he wanted. Bill was the sneaky one, he moved in the shadows, and manipulated others to get what he needed. Both of them did things I doubt they are proud of, but they had to do them.

The whole issue with Jobs health is interesting also, I think this last decade has been part of Steve's last stand with Apple, I think he realized after first being diagnosed with cancer that, he isn't invincible, a lesson all men have to learn eventually and that Apple before has gone without him and lost its way, and he must engrain into Apple Inc's very DNA, the very fabric of its being his mark, himself and thought process. These slew of amazing products are a example of this. I think he figured he had more time, more time to set the peices to the game, The iPad, the iMac, The iPod, Apple Tv, iTunes, iPhone all of these products part of a ecosystem that has to survive without him. I think he must be even more cautious of those he puts within his midsts, those who will follow his ideals about what Apple is and what Apple does. If Apple can continue on its path, without gaining that PC mentality, without loosing its soul, I think that Apple Inc can survive past Steve Jobs. Is it ready? Maybe, its gone without Steve as acting CEO before when he was recovering from his operation, and it seemed to do fine. I don't think we will know what will happen until the day we wake up, get our coffee, sit down to read the news and read those tragic words. "Steve Jobs, Dead."
Personally, I am new to the Mac world, I used alot of them growing up in school, the School district here in Fairbanks has always been a Mac ecosystem, from Macintosh computers back in Elementary, to the Gumdrops, and G5 Power Macs in highschool. The only PC's I remember using was in a web design class in high school. I got my first iMac in the beginning of 2010, and loving it, so I hope Apple and Steve Jobs lives a long time to come, and I am really excited for this book.

He'll probably only tell half the story and you'll have to buy the updated edition to hear it all.

Just read an unauthorized biography - they usually also contain the not so popular details about the person and allow for a look at their dark side.

"The book of Jobs"... sounds so megalomaniac biblical. It probably also defines the tone of the book that the author was "authorized" to use when talking about His Steveness. A side-by-side comparison of "iCon" with "iSteve" might be quite interesting.

Looking forward to this one. Should be a great read though I'm sure Steve will have had some juicy tidbits removed. Still will definitely be picking this up hopefully through iBooks.

We need Mr. Jobs to give us something like the Ten Commandments!

We need him to tell us how to live when he is gone.
That is just really *weird*.
I know you will come back and write that you were joking, but somehow I doubt that you are.

Coming from someone who does not generally like to read
I might get to read a biography after all.
This will be one of the few books I will read in my life...
Sad…

Unauthorized Bios are always a better read.
Just read an unauthorized biography
Agree.

"iSteve: The Book of Jobs"

lol....dumbest book title i've ever heard and totally blasphemous. of course i'll download for free but knowing jobs, i'll take his word for a grain of salt - the man is a master salesman and pathological liar.

Just wait for the movie of his biography, Im sure it will be out as soon that book hits stores

Can't wait to read this, not often you are lucky enough to be able to read a biography of a revolutionist while they are still alive. A glimpse into Jobs and his brain should be the most exciting thing in a long, long time. Can't wait!

Going to buy it as a real paper book so I can preserve my copy as long as possible think this one will be special.

Depends on the agreement. It could be released on 12/31/12. Everyone is so up on this . I think it sucks. There is no way this gets released while SJ is alive.:apple:

With this kind of title (iSteve) I thought it would have been an autobiography, not a biography...

Now that The Social Network has cemented the idea that biopics don't require the main subject to be deceased, maybe we'll get a Steve Jobs/Apple movie that also covers the post-Pirates-Of-Silicon-Valley era. With an actual budget and acclaimed writers, director and cast! I'm being half tongue-in-cheek, but the geek in me would drool over this. Although, being an optimist, I think there is a lot more fodder to come with Apple and Jobs! Why not interview him in depth now and until his, hopefully a long time from now, passing, and then have the whole story. I guess because he and Apple are peaking.

I would LOVE to see a movie on how he was fired and then he came back, and how the iPod revolutionalized everything...to see all the inner workings of all those deals....behind closed fdoors.

I'm talking about the seemingly general consensus floating around that paints steve as a completely arrogant and insufferable person, regardless of firsthand accounts to the contrary.

Don't forget that he's also a tight-ass when it comes to dipping into his personal coffers and throwing a few coins to charity. (Unless you count political contributions to the Democratic Party). I bet that won't be mentioned in the book.

Walt Disney died and the company he built still strives to this day.

Many of his projects were never carried out due to execs that wouldn't take the risks. The same would happen at Apple. Think how much of a risk the iPhone was...it was a whole new area that Apple had no experience in.

Whilst Walt would probably be ok with the way the Disney company turned out, you can bet it would be a much better company if he'd had a few more years. There were so many amazing ideas that were never realised, or were insulted with poor alternatives.
