Charity is a freaking sham.

And I have mad respect for BG for giving away all that money, but let's be honest here.... If you give away half of an infinite amount of wealth, you still have infinite wealth. We're not talking about the flavor of the week rapper or football player who blows their whole contract on a huge house and 17 cars. Bill is a very smart business man and he can easily afford that kind of donation. That doesn't make it any less charitable- I'm just saying it's a little different for someone in HIS shoes to part with half of his money, as compared to someone like me or probably over 99% of the people on this forum.

Don't forget that 100% of his money is going to charity when he dies, not to his children. And just because he can afford to give money to charity doesn't make his generosity any less praiseworthy.

Not sure about not leaving your kids anything- that is a little weird. I would want to be rich so I could leave my children everything they would need.

In some ways Bill Gates has given his children everything they would ever need.... his last name. Even if he leaves them nothing financially, they will likely be very comfortable.
