Linux is definitely a niche product in the desktop sphere. If that was what you meant why didn't you say so? You'll notice that I made that assumption in my first reply to you. The common user probably uses linux all the time on different devices without realizing it, but probably not on their desktop.

Yeah, that was what I meant. After all, we were talking about Android, and if we want to compare it to Linux, we should make equal comparisons (thus, the equivalent of a common user's cellphone usage, would be a common user's desktop or laptop, and not other "less traditional" uses).

Regarding the definition, yeah, I guess number 3 applies too. Though number 2 says something about "finding its place in the market", I found that to fit. Anyway, glad everything's understood now.

OK. Sorry for the rudeness. I just get annoyed.

Anyway, Android is Linux.

You have to excuse BrLawyer. He has tourettes.

Anything that is not Apple is dead, despite the fact that the "dead" companies beat Apple in every measurable sales records, profit, market share, e.g.

I dont know who this BrLawyer is, but that tourettes comment made me LOL

Maybe not disappointed but definitely very underwhelmed. Froyo still looks clearly better then iOS 4, no Mac Pros etc.

I am disappointed by this years WWDC. No new Mac Pros, nothing about Snow Leopard or sneak peak at 10.7, no new hardware, no new Magic Tablet. Just confirmation of what everybody on the planet was expecting. Very disappointing. I thought the "one more thing" was going to be great but it turns out to be video chat. Newsflash: chatting by video was never a big thing.

Yeah, there wasn't really anything, besides iMovie, that was actually news.

They could have released a beta of Safari 5.0. ah well, another year for happy icrappers!

I can't believe that Apple did not have anything surprising except for iMovie. That last minute Apple TV rumor had me very excited. This was a very boring keynote, but I am very excited about the iPhone 4.

This seems to sum it up for me:
@Warehouse27 - "Apple WWDC Keynote: An iPhone you've already seen and an OS we've already demoed. Thanks for letting us waste 2 hours of your time."

I really dont get this hoopla about FACETIME its practically skype or other chat apps. but now you have to pay for it, because I'm pretty sure it wont come for free. Greedy mobile operators will use feature to their advantage. They are accustomed to selling air.

Only Apple can make something as old as video chat seem like it's a modern day marvel.

I thought the WWDC was a bore personally - I am happy the new iPhone now has a release date (me, the gf and mother are all overdue new phones), but I'm really unimpressed with the silence on actual computers.

If i remember correctly it was the same thing video on Iphone and many, many other old things wrapped in glossy wrapping paper and sold as new.

It's the developer conference. Apparently Apple didn't have anything new for Mac developers. Not really a big surprise, I can't think of any glaring omissions from OS X.
Just old hardware with cases that haven't changed in years......Didnt they use that same MacPro case for G5s? isnt that Mini still sitting in the same old close that it was introduced in? Come on Apple throw a bone to the hardware computer division, at least a spraycan of black paint.

What's that have to do with OSX? OS X is the software side of things. I do agree that Apple desperately needs to update the Mac Pro.

Yes, and it's a damn good case. I don't really know what they need to update about it. Still looks cutting edge to me, especially compared to the competition.

The mini has always been ignored. It does look a little long in the tooth though. Apple did kind of update it's case on the last revision though, for the $999 model at least.

A black Mac Pro would be slick as hell.

Though I must say that I'm absolutely disappointed it was mainly up to my expectations.

Face it: Developing for the Mac is obsolete. Developing for the iCrap is sexy as hell, an it earns Apple money big style - through the AppStore and now through iAds.

And it was a keynote directed to developers. It was like: Hey developers, you now have a Gyro to play with and iAds to make money. Hey Mac crowd, buy our new phone already.

Wasn't the keynote self-explanatory the moment Zynga announced their Farming-App? I mean, come on, I didn't know what to think of that.

So hackintosh it is for me...thanx Steve

I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of mac stuff. They are fast growing a market share, I know quite a few people who have switched to mac after using mine. Why are they now neglecting it?

Funny enough, I'm very disappointed with this. No mention of OSX or any Mac stuff. It seems like the iPhone has become Apple's main business - can't blame them for the money it earns but I would've expected at least some OSX stuff.... How long for the 10.7 preview????
