You would be surprised how much weight you can lose from just an infection, especially if it's persistent.

Heck with an infection, try food poisoning. I had it once from a bad plate of fettucini alfredo and lost 16 pounds in a little over a day. Sure, I put a bit of it back on as soon as I could keep water down (was within an hour or two of going to get an IV for rehydration) but that was the quickest weight-loss method I've ever been through.

I hate to be a pessimist, but I was speaking with a doctor (another Mac person) the other day. He didn't know that Steve had had pancreatic cancer. When I told him this, he said that Steve's gaunt look made sense; he looked to him like a terminal cancer patient. I HOPE HE'S WRONG (but I'm afraid he's not).

Are you 300 pounds?! How the hell could you lose 16 -- in a day -- and live?

Nope--at the time I was 235-ish and spent a lot of bad-quality time in the bathroom spewing fluids out of both ends of my GI tract that day. Soooo, most of that 16 lbs. was water loss and not fat (oh how I wish it was 16 lbs. of fat...)

That's not true. I lost 20lbs when i was sick with double phenomena.

Now thats what they need to put in those weight loss pills.

Greg(me) to an investors group "I have a great idea"
Investors "lets here it!"
Greg "lets start selling phenomena to EVERYONE as a weigh loss suppliment"
Investors" huh?"
Greg "some guy on macrumors.com says he lost 20 lbs. when he was hit twice"
Investors "GENSIOUS, BRAVOOO!"

:rolleyes::D:D:D

Stupid.. I know.

^ Same. It would not be the same without Steve.

You know what? I think I'm gonna make a tribute to Jobs.

Hmm, that would be foreboding and ominous!

However, lets just hope that Steve just decided to stop working out and thus is now extremely thin in the chest, shoulders, and arms. Because that GUT is beginning to bulge.

I think Apple, the stock MAY go into a slump, but considering Forestall's great presentation of Time Machine, and now Task Manager of WM vs iPhones model, recall "This just sucks!" hehe, then I think he'd be the IDEAL replacement for iCEO. He's got the knack, the Mac is better than PC pinache, and the jokes to go with it.

He capable of presenting keynotes just fine. But he misses the feel. Something I feel with Steve Jobs and not with Forestall..

Okay, prepare yourselves because this might sound stupid, but since I am relatively new to Apple (two years), I have to ask this: why is Steve Jobs so essential to the Company? I mean, everyone is basically like, if not for Steve Jobs, then no Apple. Why is this? What does he do that is so special that makes Apple better? I am not saying this to downplay him, I only want to understand the situation.

Look at the past. Apple has always done horribly when Jobs wasn't there.

I also think Forstall would be a good successor.

He didn't look that bad to me but the keynote was very flat and he didn't seem to be totally "Isn't that cool" ed out . Just like heres 3g, Push email, blah blah blah, yawn almost. No real passion this time. He just didn't seem excited and if Steve isn't excited how can he expect anyone else to be.
.
I love the iphone and will be getting one but the keynote was lacking in passion. I think he under sold he iphone 3G and didn't do it justice.

Maybe the two other guys filled in as the bug meant SJ could only present for short burst.
