If it only has 1000 seats I'm guessing Apple is only going to host announcement events there when they want to invite specific people?
Wonder why only 1000 seating?
Fascinating pics. That stage is huge! This article answered a lot of questions I had about access and arrangement. I'm surprised that there's so much wood structure in the theater; I expected more glass and aluminum.
Did you even read the full article ? The seats did not cost 14k ! Or shalll we extend this analogy to each seat on a jumbo jet costing 5 millionThose $14,000 seats could've been exchanged for $1,000 seats with the $13,000 left over going to an outreach program or charity. Apple/Tim Cook are all about giving other people's money away, but not their own. It's hypocritical and undermines their "we love the world" image.
They can get in via the loading dock behind the stage or via the side tunnel branching off the tunnel leading to the loading dock:

And when's the last time Apple updated the iPad mini? It's display looks archaic next to the latest iPads. Come on Apple, stop with the day late dollar short act!
Much like their software, they don't mind that many people find unnecessary motion or animation annoying or even sickening.
Become a tech reporter in Silicon ValleyPlace seems so cool. I would love to somehow get inside someday haha
New Apple product! iSharks with friggin lasers.Because every evil genius has to have a secret underground lair.
1000 seats is quit big i would imagine!Wonder why only 1000 seating?
Given Apple cash resources, I'm surprised there is not an underground monorail connecting the theater to Tim Cook's bedroom.I'm surprised there isn't an underground walkway behind the stage that goes back to the main building, so that the executives can go to and from without passing through the audience.

Is there a reason why it's basically an underground bunker ?

And that's how Tim will show up:
You'd definitely want Rolls-Royce quality Simmental leather for that priceSo they spent 14 million on just the seats?
I was going to go further to say that for all users of a lift two doors is better, because you don't have to walk in and then turn around. What would have been truly 'Apple' would have been a rotating lift with two doors so although the openings in the lift shaft are on the same side people get the sensation of walking 'through' the lift. It's a better user experience to have two doors in a lift. Push a wheelchair user in one door. And then directly out the next door. Instead you have to back out or turn around if it's the same door... another sacrifice of UX over design.
Interesting. One thing that hit me is the emergency egress. I'd like to see how they have exits set up in cases where one (or more was blocked). What is the timing requirement in California for a 1000 person emergency exit?
word salad of the day: "obvious double-door solution"

Even with the descriptions from Bloomberg, I still don't have a clear vision of what it will look like. Well, I'm sure there is Wi-Fi, so, someone will Facebook Live the experience.
Just in case Kim Jong-un strikes
I'm shocked there will be separate men's/women's restrooms. Where are trans people supposed to go before the big event? This doesn't seem like a forward thinking design.![]()
