My friends, Walter Isaacson is major league, very major league. I recently finished his scholarly biography of Albert Einstein and it is absolutely superb. If Isaacson is on board and has the blessing of Jobs then we will finally get a glimpse of the real thing. Isaacson is relentless in his pursuit of the truth and doesn't pull any punches, no matter what. If the rumor is true this will be big.

One of the final chapters in a great career!

While I'm sure this is preaching to the choir, we are going to see a biography of one of the greatest technology entrepreneurs of our time. A century from now, his name will be up there with Edison, Packard and Starnoff if not a few decades from now.

If you look at Steve's mentor David Packard and his meta-mentor Henry Ford, both had authorized biographies released around the time of their retirement from full time management into either part time management or a position of philanthropy. Liver transplants have an off and on chance of fully taking into the body. I hope he is doing well.

It will undoubtedly be out on the iPad but I am sure you will see it in print with an autographed copy being very, very rare. Don't expect a colorful style iWoz type bio. This one will be positioned high above us all with critical retrospectives.

I hope there is one good laugh in each chapter.

Reminds me of the old Navy ad line, "If you wrote a biography of your life, would anyone want to read it?"

Well he is certainly up against a real player here. This is like trying to get the truth out of Willie Brown when all he wants to give you is the "truth".

I think with Steve's recent touch with death. He has become more maturer and open with himself. He knows that many people are very interested in his life. I'm sure he is tired of all the speculations, accusations and rumors that have followed him all these years. This is his chance to set them all straight if he is willing to finally share.

I sold Isaacson my copy of the book Apple Confidential 2.0 in early January for $6. Did that book go out of print or something? All the used copies are totally expensive now!

Good to see yourt thoughts

I am not familiar with Isaacson, but if as you say, he is that good, then we may just get a very interesting read. Great men like Steve Jobs, often do not understand why other people do not think as they do and therefore cannot easily pass on the reasoning and knowledge, just like most elite athletes rarely, if ever, make good coaches.

The autobiogrpher is the whole key, I am excited at the prospect, but as has been mentioned, my guess is we are two years off at least... ;)

I hope he addresses that time he screwed Woz out of that money, and anything else he's been accused of, rightly or wrongly. And no backward-looking reality distortion field. A real warts 'n' all. Then it would be an interesting read.

Weird.

I wish him to be around for at least another 5 years...

He deserves to see how the iPad will become so much even he couldn't have dreamt of.

Now I know why the iPad was invented.

Steve :apple: Jobs needed something to read his own biography on.

i would definitely buy this. and if it's exclusive to the iBookstore? that would be f'in awesome. :)

The New York Times was prominent in the iPad announcement. This could very well have been a part of the negotiations to bring the NYTimes on board with the iPad.

Snooze. He did right by Apple, but he doesn't seem too terribly interesting a person to read about. And I don't think they can make him seem any more interesting than in that Pirates movie that doesn't have Johnny Depp (though wouldn't he be a great Jobs?).

this would be such a great book! I wonder how much of the inner workings of Apple he would go into?
