Very nice design, with Frank Lloyd Wright sensibilities.

There's nothing Frank Lloyd Wright about it, not even remotely. The design approach is essentially Bauhaus or International Style, forms of minimalist aesthetic Modern architecture that Wright didn't expound or practice (pretty much the opposite in fact).

SO SO SO ********* ugly as hell. Starck is a horrid designer and i'm amazed he is even happy to claim this dog as his. I'm sorry but I don't get how you can impound a ship based on an assumed cost from the designer it stinks to me. Got damn that is an ugly boat.

That would be weird. I'm guessing there is more to this, but a contract should spell out how such a fee is determined. I'm surprised the article suggests a yacht of this price was impounded based on a supposed verbal agreement.

There must surely be a contract in place, how can there be a dispute over something like this? Sounds like sour grapes on the part of the designer who is unhappy that the final sales price of the Yacht came in $50 million under what he had thought? Too bad!

If there was no contract how did he put a lien against the boat? If he has no contract and put a lien against the boat then he's commit fraud. If he had a contract then the story is wrong. Either way everyone sucks.

Yes, but you have to prove

a) the contract really exists

and

b) the details of the verbal contract were agreed upon by all parties

before it can be enforced. Seems strange you can impound someone's property based on a dispute over the details of a verbal contract, especially if (at least partial) payment has already been proven.

According to the article the designer "who works with Steve Jobs for the design". It sounds like the guy claiming his money that he did all the design himself. Probably Jobs family won't give the rest of the money maybe because almost all the design was SJ's idea.

Not that Apple would ever do anything without a contract, that is rather foolish.

Apple should lower their margins using that line of thought.

Right, they may be more subject to dispute, but they are just as enforceable. I suspect that the "verbal" contract between Steve and the designer is backed up with email and what is really meant in this case by "verbal" is that they didn't have a written, signed contract spelling out all of the provisions. Not that that written, signed contacts can't be disputed.

They'll work something out. I also predict that this little dingy will be will sold within a year.

If the Jobs family does not want it, I will purchase it. I am not sure where I will park it, My driveway does not have the space and I am sure, it has a big trailer. (Can you imagine how embarrassed you would be if, you put it in the water, then realized, you forgot to put in the plug?)
