Hi all,

I am kind of in a dilemma. I am using iPhone 13 Pro Max and my main concerns about the 15.3 are :

1. Battery life. Is it better or worse or just about the same as 15.1.1? I skipped the 15.2 because of users reporting about the battery drain.

2. Music Streaming Bug. This would be annoying if it takes a hit on the battery as I use apple music alot. Is it bad?

3. Indexeddb safari bug. I don’t know how severe this bug is in leaking my data. If I stay on 15.1.1, should I be concerned about this?

Any feedback would be really helpful.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I don't have the 13, I have a 12 Pro. I was in the same dilemma but thought to update today to 15.3(using IPSW and a PC). Unfortunately, the update was too recent to know how the bugs really are. I can let you know how is has been by week's end. I think that would be long enough for the indexing and other maintenance tasks to calm down post update and advise. I also use Apple Music a lot, so I was conflicted on what to do with the bug also but ultimately, it was the security patches that outweighed the risk of bugs.

15.3 connection to WiFi is awful for me. Not sure what’s going on. On 11Pro max
Hey bud,

Have you gone though the usual wifi troubleshooting steps;

1. Restart Router
2. Restart network settings on the iphone
3. Try a different frequency band(Ex 2.4Ghz or 5.0GHz)
4. Restart modem(only if you have more than one box for your internet, many rented boxes are 2 in 1 units.
5. If possible, try to see if you can reproduce your issue on another wifi network(family, friend, or public hotspots)

Even if everything else is working in your home, a router restart may still help. If all else fails, I would try contacting apple for help. They may go over one or more of my suggestions above, if so, just advise the tech that you already tried it.

Thanks! I have decided to hold off for a while, I can always update but cannot downgrade. The music bug is the only main thing that’s holding me off from updating. I hope the update goes well for you.

I don’t have 13, but I updated my 11, my daughters’ iPhone SE 2020, 6s, iPad Air 3 and iPad Pro M1 to 15.3. All has no issues. It’s pretty solid in my experience. Mostly were updated from 14.8.1 (except 6s from iOS 12). Battery life is same with 14.8.1

Is yours the 12.9 inch m1 ipad? how has your experience been on the iPad?

I have mine still on 14.5.1

On zollotech’s youtube videos he was experiencing bad battery on his m1 iPad Pro

Nice!

I think I will upgrade my main iPhone 7 Plus when apps are no longer usable in iOS 14.8 [which could be several years from now] but for the time being I'll just limit iOS 15.x to my backup iPhone 6s

Mine is iPad 11” M1. So far is smooth. No battery drains also when idle. Speed is also very good (similar with 15.1).

Same here with iPhone Xs / iPhone 6s / iPad Gen5. I’ll retain them all at iOS 14.8.1.

I really like these smooth operators. Upgrade only when essential/main apps are no longer supported in iOS 14.8.1

Or did I mis any important security updates?

Have a nice weekend.

One thing I can advise running 15.3 on my 12 Pro. For the first time in a long time, my phone maintained 100% charge all though the night. Usually I would lose ~4% a night.

iPhones generally over report on the battery status if it’s at 95-100%. Maybe try to charge till 90% and then see the overnight drain, it would be much more accurate. But overall, 15.3 is looking promising from what I have been reading online. Thanks for reporting your findings.

Hi Bud,

You are welcome and I do know about the over-report thing, but here is the thing on that, normally, when I would go to sleep with my phone at 100%, I will wake up 8-9 hours later to 96-94% with just whatever notifications come in through the night. This has been something ongoing for years, including older model iphones(XS). I will try what you suggested though,

Thank you.

I always charge up to 76% (I use app for notifying when to unplug). Most of the time, the battery was flat during sleep; this is especially consistent on iPad (probably because it is wifi version where it didn’t affected cellular signal).

Edit: added picture.

Technically speaking, your battery graph looks similar to what my phone has always looked but if you look at it, it is not completely 100% flat, there was still a small drain overnight(Not a bad thing, and normal.) I just wanted to point out that my first night with a full charge on 15.3 did not yield any drain overnight all, not even a 1% drop.
